Overview

CAB-35, chemically known as Cocamidopropyl Betaine, is a mild amphoteric surfactant with versatile properties, including excellent solubility in water, pH stability (5.0–7.0), and compatibility with various ionic systems .
It exhibits strong foaming, thickening, and detergency capabilities while maintaining low irritation to skin and eyes, making it ideal for personal care formulations. The product typically appears as a colorless or pale yellow viscous liquid with ≥35% active content and ≤6.0% sodium chloride . Its unique dual ionic behavior under acidic/alkaline conditions enhances softness, conditioning, and low-temperature stability in formulations .

CAB-35 is widely used in shampoos, body washes, facial cleansers, and baby care products for its gentle cleansing and hair/skin conditioning effects . In industrial applications, it serves as a viscosity reducer and foaming agent in oilfield extraction, improves fabric softness in textiles, and acts as an antistatic agent in household detergents .
